Bunko

I have been asked several times about a bunko group. We have had several people interested in starting one or two Bunko groups, depending on how many are interested. Please let us know below if this is something you would like to be involved with. The deal with bunko groups are, you usually play with 12 people.(but can play with eight) You rotate, everyone gets a chance to host at their home. 12 players, 12 months in a year. Depending on how many we have interested will decide how many groups we'll have. Then you can decide in your group what works best. It is usually the same night of the month every month.( Like, the 1st Tuesday of every month etc. ) You can do it as simple as snacks, or actually have dinner. I am in two groups right now, but am leaving one in October. That group is very fun, we do themes each month. It is just too far to drive. Reply here if you are interested and we can get it going. Let the "BUNKO" games begin!

  1. I've never played Bunko but have friends who do. I've heard it's a lot of fun. I would be interested in joining a group.

    Thanks for creating this website!

  2. I used to belong to a bunco group in California and would love to join one here in the neighborhood.

  3. I would be willing to learn and host, lets get it going....do we play once a month or every week?

  4. What we did in California was there were 12 people and each person took a month to be hostess. It was just once a month (example..2nd Monday of the month at 7:30pm). It was nice to have a girls night out and lots of laughs!

  5. I tried last year to get a Bunko group together but just didn't have enough people interested. I wouldn't mind organizing a group if I found enough people interested. Email me at jenliewill@gmail.com if you're seriously interested and I'll try to organize one. I'll definitely need help recruiting though. An ideal Bunko group has 12 people in it. I've heard of people playing with only eight, but I think 12 would me more fun!

  7. I would be interested in joining a neighborhood bunko group and would love to host. It's been a while since I've played, so someone will need to remind me of the rules!

  8. I would join the group as well. I think that after we decide the groups we can set the rules that work best for our group. I Look forward to starting. I hope we can get it started by October so lets get the word out. I know of at least three more people who are interested, they just haven't posted yet

  18. Hey Jennie, looks like we are only one short. Since you offered to get the group organized....do you mind setting up a meeting for us to meet and startup? Looks like the majority have no idea how to play Bunko...(smile)....might want to post the time, place and date for the first meeting here since we seem to check the posts. THANKS!!!! Looking forward to this......

Wish I could attend the Centex end of year party to meet some of you that are planning on attending but already have other plans.....

  20. Hello Bunco gals!

Wow! I didn't know it would be this easy to get a group started! This is GREAT! Thanks to all who are as excited as I am to get started! Michelle Rassmusson and I have thought that once a month on Tuesdays would be ideal. If everyone could start emailing me at jenleiwill@gmail.com so I can collect everyone's emails, that would be the easiest way for me to organize the group. Does everyone want a meet and greet the first meeting? Or would you rather just jump right in and get started? I know that I'm a visual learner and I learn best when watching and participating. Listening is just not my best strength!! But I already know how to play so I guess it's not up to me.

How about we start September the 22nd? That way it will give us time to solidify our group and get things organized. Plus it will give all of us time to clear our calendars!! Remember for all of you who haven't emailed me yet and want to join to go ahead and do so. I'd like to stay in contact with everyone to help get things started! For those of you who have emailed me I'll send out another email so we can all start communicating in one way instead of two.

Well, This message is probably way to long for the message boards so I'll end it here. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone!

  21. Thanks Jennie....September the 22nd is great for me...and I am super excited about this. Hope everyone can make it. I think we should all just jump right in, since it is pretty easy to learn and we can go slow for the first set so everyone is comfortable with the game. By the end of the night, we will have met everyone, had a lot of laughs and will feel like we've known each other forever. What time did we decide on? Hope to see everyone that night.

  22. Sounds great to me. I'll be sure to make Sept. 22nd clear for me. Looking forward to the email to know the time and place. I learn quicker by jumping right in as well!!! Until then.....

  23. Here is the Date, Time and Place:

    Date: September 22nd

    Time: 6:30 to 8:30 ish

Place: Since I'm organizing I wont mind hosting the first time. I might need to borrow two poker tables. We need three tables in all and we only have one dining room table. So if someone could supply me with those I'll be fit to host. Other wise we might have to use a coffee table:((

Let me know if anyone has an issue with the date or time! I hope not!

For now, we have twelve people. BUT please don't stop asking around because we're going to need subs. Subs are very important! We don't want any "ghost players"! They're not as fun! Here is who I have signed up

    Debbie Lovell
    Mahoney Family???
    Michelle Rasmusson
    Misty Tomlinson
    Rhonda Eckel
    Stacie ?????
    Deirdre Scalise
    Kelly ??????
    Melissa Cox
    Angela ?????
    Jamie??????
    Jennie Williams (me)

Possible Alternates or other players (if we don't have 12 yet )

    Michelle Mercer

If there is a question mark by your name then I don't have your full name. If you could get back to me with your full first and last name that would be awesome! You can email me at
    jenleiwill@gmail.com

    Thanks so much!

  25. Oh MY, You guys are very excited aren't you. You don't waist any time, you just jump right in. (Game on)I have to say that I think the best way to do this is to have an initial meet and greet and we can discuss which rules we want to play, ( since there are slight variations) who wants what month, if we want to do themes, If we want to do meals or just snacks, how the prizes will go, and how the sub situation will go etc. I think this way we will have a successful group and people will stay for the long haul. Just a thought. So my vote would be to meet for the first time have a list put together, maybe a bunko box with all the stuff. In my other group we all pitched in $5.00 at the begining so we could get the initial stuff like, the dice, bell, score sheets, pens all that good stuff. So let me know what you all think.

  26. I meant "beginning" Sorry everyone

  27. Stacie,

Thanks for your input. It might be easier to organize in person rather than through email. We could have a meet and greet at my house on the 22nd of September. Maybe make it for only an hour to an hour and a half tops. Then instead of waiting for a whole month for our next gathering we could meet the first Tuesday of October for an actual game night. Which is two weeks later instead of a whole month. This is just another option. Let me know what you think ladies!

    Jennie Williams

p.s. What is your last name Stacie?

    ReplyDelete
  28. I agree a meet and greet would probably work best. this way we can discuss everything. Unfortunately, I will be out of town on the 22nd of Sept. But, if I'm the only one... I'll just have to miss the meet and greet and get the scoop from someone who was there.
Sounds like it's gonna be lot's of fun!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm okay for a meet and greet getting the details sorted out and I think that it is a great idea to all put in money for the initial start up also. That way no one is taking the full expense of it. Can't wait to meet you all in person.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Alright!!! Sounds like we have this going on....meet and greet at Jennie's. We should all bring a snack????? First game on Oct. 6 sounds good to me. I've checked online in regards to the stuff needed. I agree with Stacie on chipping in and whoever hosts gets the stuff.

See you all at Jennie's in a few weeks.....

  31. I'm going to be out of town for the holiday weekend starting tomorrow so I'll be out of touch until Tuesday. So far we have September 22nd for the meet and greet. Then a real game day on the 6th of October. Hopfully no one will have trouble with the dates being two weeks apart instead of a month. If so, we can always make the game day for a later date. I'm very flexible and always up for suggestions! Have a great Holiday weekend everyone!

  33. Hello Everyone!

Here's the list of all who are coming Tuesday, who are interested can't make it, and those who I'm not sure if they're still interested or not. If you have a ? by your name, that means that I don't know if you're still interested in joining.

    Debbie Lovell - is coming
Stacie Mahoney - I think you're coming, right?
    Michelle Rasmusson - is coming
    Misty Tomlinson - ????
    Rhonda Eckel - ????
Deirdre Scalise - Out of town
    Kelly - ????
    Melissa Cox - ????
    Angela - ????
    Jamie - ????
    Michelle Mercer - ????
    Jennie Williams - Hosting
Jami Smith - Out of town

So far I have only three people coming to the meeting on Tuesday. And only 5 people who've confirmed that they'll be a part of this group. Remember that we need TWELVE!! If you have a question mark by your name, make sure you get back to me ASAP about either Tuesday's meeting and/or whether you're truly interested in joining this bunko group.

Some of the topics we'll be going over in the meeting will be the rules of Bunko, the time to meet and which week of the month to meet. (ie. 1st, second, third or forth Tuesday of the month.) Also we'll have a vote on whether we'll want to do money or prizes and whether we'll have wine/alcohol at our Bunko games. I'll set it up so those two issues will be on a ballot type piece of paper so you can share your views or opinions anonymously.

I do hope that everyone on this list can make it Tuesday. I'd like for everyone to have a say on what kind of Bunko group we're going to have. So please contact be before Monday if you can. Either on this forum or at

    jenleiwill@gmail.com

    Thanks everyone!

  35. I won't be able to make it, my husband is out of town this week so I'll be at home with our son. My husband is gone quite often so if you have enough people without me, I would love to just be a sub. Just let me know.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Sounds great Melissa! I'll put you down for a sub if that will work out better for you. Email me at jenleiwill@gmail.com so I can have your email address in my address book. I will not be checking this website as often. I encourage anyone who is interested in playing Bunko from here on out to contact me at jenleiwill@gmail.com. You'll have more luck getting in contact with me that way.
